On this page you can find the most frequently asked questios and answers regarding our ADSL services.

How can you obtain IP address when using BeotelNet ADSL service?

ADSL users have possibility to choose between dynamic, private or dynamic public IP address. The choice is done through giving parameters when entering username and logging on our system. The user who wants connection with IP address to be made from the private range, should log on our system as:
username@beotel, and the password is the same as the one used for dial-up system logging.

The user who wants connection with IP address to be made from the public range, should log on our system as:

username/ip@beotel, and the password is the same as the one used for dial-up system logging. Both ways of obtaining IP addresses, naturally have their own advantages and disadvantages, as noticed by many users.

  • Private addresses with the access via NAT protocol do not allow certain Internet services, mostly those with their server part on your pc.
  • On the other hand, private IP addresses with the access via NAT protocol are offering significantly higher level of protection fore your pc (what does not exclude some additional Firewall application protection).
  • With public dynamic IP addresses, You can use all server's and client's applications, with increased risk of malicious access to your pc. Having that on mind we decided, in the beginning stage of providing ADSL service, that our customers should get their addresses from the private range of IP addresses and thus be protected by NAT Protocol, but The access to the system from the public range is enabled for more experienced and demanding customers (knowing that the mere customers are aware of possible abuse by malicious Internet users.)

Our recommendation , based on our several years' experience, is to avoid using IP addresses from the public range (as explained above) as much as possible or to use it only in the case of pressing need. The use of ADSL system through NAT protocol is safer and more reliable ,and because of that it is recommended to the customers that are less experienced in the field of protection computers from the Internet abuse.

Anyway, BeotelNet did its best to answer the demands of the customers what resulted in enabling the use of ADSL access not only to the ordinary, but the advanced Internet users.
